I've reached a point where I am fundamentally questioning the way I live, the things I buy and consume, and whether I can lead my life sustainably. Generating wealth sustainably will be the theme of my explorations and experiments going forward. In the name of convenience, we created so many things and processes that are wreaking havoc to our living environment and even to ourselves. Like Dumbledore said, it is a choice between what is easy and what is right and I will look at all my life choices this way going forward.
I played too much into the game of fitting in, seeking approval and validation, trying to live a life which is seen as successful. Although I am grateful for where it brought me, I don't think my life journey should stagnate there. Switzerland is a great place to live in. As an expat, the expectations are high and I will need to put a lot of effort to fit in. This country is giving its best effort for sustainability and they have the money to pull it off. Well, the population of the whole country is lesser than the city of Hyderabad, where I will be moving to in two weeks.
I will be doing a two week intensive course on permaculture in India in a few weeks, which is a first step towards realizing my sustainable living goals. I have the money and resources to experiment in India and will be doing so over the next 3-5 years. Experiments might succeed or fail, but either outcomes are okay with me. I will have genuinely tried to live a sustainable life. I'll spend most of my productive time at ETH Zurich library over the next two weeks.
