I had my first tamale at a mexican restaurant in Burlington, Vermont and sort of fell in love with this ancient corn dish. I very confidently chomped through the tamale and was chewing the hot sauce infused corn husk, only to be told I had to unwrap and eat it. Since then, I always ordered this dish whenever I saw it on a mexican restaurant menu. Since I moved to Switzerland five years ago, I never saw it on the menu. The first restaurant we went to in Catamarca two days ago had it on the menu, but they were out of stock. Today, my desire to have a tamale finally got its closure. I paired it with a nice glass of foamy pepper mint lemonade. Very good!
