Temples as places of sanctity

We were asked to leave our footwear outside and deposit mobile phones at the gate to gain entry into the temple. I stayed back and let my mother go inside, as I'm dealing with multiple phone calls pertaining to order deliveries and servicing. In a way it is good to detach ourselves from our biggest string attached: our phones. I was looking at people in the metro the other day and noticed more than half of them are staring down at their phones with neck fully bent.

Got to eat awesome pulihora prasadam from the temple. Went to pick up the footwear and were asked to pay some change by the person guarding it. When asked how much, got a response "your mercy". Then walking a bit further, we heard multiple voices pleading for money. My mother has enough change for everyone. Have to commend her for the kindness and empathy. I guess I got hardened by the travel and the scams I've fallen prey to. My first instinct is not to give anything these days.

Checked out a couple of organic food places around and struck conversation with the business owners. An eventful day comes to an end, where a trip to HITEC city in the morning, followed by a bunch of calls and emails regarding my shipment enroute to India, taxes in Switzerland, appliance deliveries and servicing, curtain fixtures, and the fourth life insurance policy which I wanted to cancel. I guess three life insurance policies are enough.
